The online course “Education Trade Unions for Refugees and Migrants” will help you to better understand the challenges related to migration, displacement and education, for you and the people around you.
The course, organised around 6 weeks, will move from a general introductory framework, through different challenges and opportunities for refugee and migrant students, education personnel and members of Education Trade Unions, and will conclude with a final module on suggestions for practical action.
Based on various case studies from around Europe, the course will explore how Education Trade Unions can support the inclusion of refugees and migrants in and through education, helping participants learn more and put their learning into practice.
With inputs by experts and members of Education Trade Unions, learners will better understand the challenges related to migration, displacement and education. Through concrete examples, they will gain knowledge about existing best practices, toolkits and policies.
With discussions and interactive exercises, the MOOC will guide participants on how to advocate for more effective inclusion of migrants and refugees in education, in the teaching profession and within Education Trade Unions. It will also show them how to hold their government accountable through monitoring, and advocacy.

The course is a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), which means we do not select participants on any basis. Rather, we welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about the topic to enrol and participate for free.
Our course is a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), which means all components are open and totally free for anyone.
There are no registration or tuition fees. The certificate of participation is also free and offered to all those who successfully complete all the course requirements (see below for details on the certificate).
We want all participants in our courses to enjoy a great learning experience and we strive to always improve accessibility. Each week of the course includes one or two video lectures with accompanying transcripts and reading materials. The texts are in PDF format, work at low bandwidths, are printable and can be zoomed to the desired size. Some readings may include pages from accessible websites. This makes all of them accessible to those who use assistive technology software such as screen readers, speech input, keyboard accessible controls or text to speech tools. Participants can study in their own time: modules and topics as well as module exercises are all open from the start until the end of the course to facilitate access and completion at any preferred time. At the end of the course, if you have actively engaged with all components, reaching at least an 80% completion score, you will receive a certificate of participation. The certificate is not sent automatically, but on the basis of verification that the above-mentioned requirements have been met. To start the process, you will have to fill in a request form that will be made available at the end of the course.
You can also request by email a transcript of records indicating the structure/content of the course and your completion score for each component.
